Born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi, the fourth of five children, Symba Smith is a truly a modern Southern belle - beautiful, hospitable, friendly and totally focused. She realized from a young age that she wanted to be an actress, and got her break after winning the "Miss Teen All-American" pageant in Miami. A New York-based modeling agent spotted her there and convinced her to move to the Big Apple. Smith thrived as a model and had success doing a number of national commercials, but she wanted to break into acting. One of the highlights of that time was flying to Los Angeles and winning $100,000 in the "Star Search" (1983) spokesmodel competition. She decided to make L.A. her home so that she could pursue her acting career even more. After relocating to Hollywood she found theatrical, commercial and modeling agents who kept her busy. She made her acting debut on the comedy series "Blossom" (1991) and followed up with guest appearances on "Veronica's Closet" (1997), "Friends" (1994) and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (1993), among others. She has also appeared in several feature films, including L.A. Confidential (1997), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) and Underground (1995).
